What is Curiosity Compass?

The Curiosity Compass (CC) is a multidimensional student self-report instrument designed to profile curiosity-related learning behaviors within the CTDL (Critical Thinking Driven Learning) framework. It measures seven core dimensions of curiosity that influence how learners:

• Engage with new ideas

• Persist in thinking

• Respond to challenge

• Ask questions

• Explore perspectives

• Experiment and try

• Use tools and information independently

Curiosity Compass is not a measure of intelligence or academic achievement. Instead, it identifies learning dispositions and behavioral tendencies that shape how students approach thinking and learning tasks. Within the CTDL ecosystem, Curiosity Compass functions as the WHY layer by revealing motivational and behavioral drivers behind learning engagement.
